U.S. Increases Reward for Information on Nicolás Maduro

The U.S. offers up to $50 million for information leading to Nicolás Maduro's arrest or conviction.
The Department of State and the Department of Justice have increased the reward offer to up to $50 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of Nicolás Maduro. This is part of the Narcotics Rewards Program (NRP) for violations of U.S. narcotics laws. Maduro has led the Cartel de los Soles for over a decade, trafficking drugs into the United States. On July 25, 2025, the U.S. Department of the Treasury designated the cartel as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. Since 2020, Maduro has undermined democracy in Venezuela. He claimed victory in the July 28, 2024, presidential election without providing evidence. The U.S. does not recognize Maduro as Venezuela's president. The reward is authorized under the NRP, supporting global law enforcement to combat transnational crime.
